ARCHIVIST NOTES

Duke, Falcon, and Cross Country all made it back from that clusterfuck in Benzheen. The three of them, alive but carrying the weight of the ones who weren’t.

Those names were carved deep into the stone pillar, an unwelcome roll call: Doc, Breaker, Heavy Metal, Quick Kick, Crazylegs, Crankcase, Thunder.

Visceral pain and remorse hung on the faces of the “lucky” three. At least that’s what I see in the frames.

Was this in Trucial Abysmia (there used to be a memorial site there) or was it Washington D.C.? Location notes were burned off the reel canister. I couldn’t find any official record of this memorial event even happening. Did it? Was I even there?

I can’t seem to trust my memory as a reliable witness.
