PHOTOGRAPHER’S LOG:

Layers upon layers of sounds stacked on top of each other: cicadas buzzing, tree frogs yapping, toucans squawking. But it was the goddamn macaws incessant cackling that almost drove me out of my mind.

All that paired up with a heat that pressed down like a sopping wet cloth. The full Sierra Gordo experience.

Recondo had been marinating in it for what seemed like a month of Sundays before Outback finally stumbled through the brush like he was on some sort of leisurely weekend holiday.

No words between them, just a couple of knowing nods before they got to work.

Paul Panfalone is a Cleveland, OH based artist and toy photographer. He spent his childhood dreaming up stories using action figures in the backyard of his home in East Aurora, NY, appropriately nicknamed “Toytown”. Now as an adult (sort of), he imagines new worlds with those same figures and lives their adventures through the lens of his camera, much like he did back home, over thirty years ago.
