FIELD NOTES:

Invasion: Cobra Island.

There were a few of these Operations over the years. This is the first capture I’ve recovered from the one internally referred to as “Operation: Overrun”. At least that’s what the file’s metadata says.

Hard to keep them straight, but Steeler’s presence is a unique to this one, considering what happened to him later.

He loved to get out of his tracked toaster once it was time to put the battle away. He made friends with those PAC RATS too. This was one of them new-fangled bipedal M-PACS that engineering sent into service around that time. Things had a mind of their own...and they didn’t think happy thoughts.

Flamethrowers had fallen out of favor during the 80’s due to Protocol III of the Geneva Convention or something, but against enemy fortifications, on that Island...and wielded by a walking robot, those (crispy) Cobras were entirely fair game.

Paul Panfalone

Paul Panfalone is a Cleveland, OH based artist and toy photographer. He spent his childhood dreaming up stories using action figures in the backyard of his home in East Aurora, NY, appropriately nicknamed “Toytown”. Now as an adult (sort of), he imagines new worlds with those same figures and lives their adventures through the lens of his camera, much like he did back home, over thirty years ago.
